Facilities Engineer

To provide general site services support to the business as directed by the Facilities Manager and/or Engineering Manager. You will be required to carry out general engineering and facilities tasks under the supervision of the Facilities Manager and/or Engineering Manager while maintaining the highest levels of safety, compliance, and operational standards across the site.
Key Responsibilities :
• Check contractor documentation and complete permits. Supervise contractors while on site and ensure compliance with site safety procedures.
• Work with the Facilities & Planning Manager to ensure legal compliance of site facilities and services.
• Carry out daily plant room equipment checks (including chillers and associated utilities) to ensure systems are operating safely and efficiently.
• Complete general maintenance and repairs of site services and facilities equipment.
• Respond to and manage facilities maintenance requests across the site in a timely manner.
• Conduct metal working fluid testing in line with site requirements and report any issues identified.
• Carry out weekly fire alarm tests and report any defects or issues for corrective action.
• Support site compliance activities, including draining emergency showers and non-frequently used taps as part of Legionella management.
• Perform ladder inspections, maintain the ladder register, identify defects, and arrange repairs where required.
• Carry out monthly fire extinguisher inspections and maintain accurate inspection records.
• Conduct humidity sampling within production areas and ensure environmental monitoring records are maintained.
• Perform fire roller shutter checks as part of fire safety compliance procedures.
• Support office moves and relocations, including telephones and workspace adjustments.
• Complete general engineering tasks (non-safety critical) under the supervision of the Engineering Supervisors and/or Manager.
• Maintain accurate records of inspections, work orders, and maintenance activities.
• Carry out other duties relating to site maintenance and facilities services as required.
• Strict adherence to the organization’s hygiene rules, understanding the importance of personal hygiene and wearing appropriate protective gear to avoid compromising product quality.
• Basic knowledge of quality standards, data integrity, and the importance of maintaining product integrity.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
• Background in facilities and building services essential.
• Trade qualification in plumbing essential.
• Good stakeholder management skills.
• General IT literacy essential, with confidence using CMMS/CAFM systems.
• IOSH or equivalent Health & Safety certification desirable.
• Background in a factory or manufacturing environment desirable.
• Gas Safe qualification desirable.
• Experience working with HVAC and humidification systems desirable.
