Position Job Title: Production Manager

Location: Teningen, Germany

Line Manager’s Job Title: Plant General Manager AF Teningen

Contract Length: Permanent

 

Job Purpose 

As Production Manager you will be responsible for managing and directing all operational activities to achieve safe, efficient and economical production within established manufacturing costs; and to maintain the highest standards of quality and volume requirements.

 

Principal Accountabilities

  • Develop short and long-term plans, policies, programs, operating procedures and objectives
  • Delegate responsibilities provide guidance and give direction on all production & service areas within the plant.
  • Maintain close surveillance over production & service areas through reports, staff meetings, observation and personal contact to assure integration of workflow, timely production, budgetary compliance and use of personal skills and machines
  • Assist and advise others to solve problems and implement permanent corrective action
  • Act as a liaison between co-workers and management team to keep people informed on matters of communication, decisions and policies
  • Identify and implement creative cost reduction opportunities
  • Administer or assist in coordination of various programs such as, safety, quality, waste, 6S, Zero Pull, SMED, cost reduction, plant security, staffing and hourly wage administration
  • Ensure all plant productivity, quality and safety goals are achieved– ensure waste management programs are on track
  • Ensure all quality and process procedures are followed at all levels in Production department
  • Manage production cost centres
  • Identify target performance levels for plant awards program; challenge team to achieve goals
  • Support Six Sigma/Lean efforts
  • Establish accurate production standards, monitor productivity performance regularly
  • Oversee and coordinate Occupational Safety program for the plant including reporting, compliance, auditing and training
  • Work on building development to the teams and succession planning, talent management – strong support to the Front-line managers

 

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS 

1. Formal Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or Engineering required. Advanced degree and Blackbelt certification desirable.
  • 10+ years’ management experience in a manufacturing environment required. Knowledge of lacquering, lamination, coating applications, printing, slitting, process control and validation protocols are nice-to-have.

  • Strong leadership skills and ability to lead teams
  • Solid safety culture
  • Able to handle multiple tasks
  • Possess a thorough knowledge and understanding of manufacturing systems and a good working knowledge of processes and products
  • Knowledge of Safety practices and a commitment to maintain them
  • Understanding of quality principles and techniques
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and strong presentation skills
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills with the ability to make quick decisions
  • Advanced teambuilding / people management skills, strong interpersonal skills
  • Solid financial reporting acumen
  • Experience in implementing Operational Excellence projects (SMED, Six Sigma, Lean, 6S)
  • Good level of English, fluent German
