Job Purpose
Project Engineer required for NBO technical projects, working closely with stakeholders at all levels, with direct responsibility for budgeting and project planning to ensure projects are finished on time, within budget while taking into consideration the safety of all those involved in bringing the project together in accordance to established company policies, procedures, specifications, internal customer requirements and goals.
Principal Accountabilities
- Interpretation of the desired outcome into a detailed plan that can be implemented by the team
- Ensue all projects are kept on track
- Lead new projects from design concept to commercial production.
- Create product specs & requirements as per the customer’s requirements
- Communicate to the customer project schedules and updates.
- Create tool drawings/specs and co-ordinating activities with external vendor.
- Co-ordinate trial/validation activities in relation to projects across the plant
- Provide training and support to team members as required.
- Document project activities clearly & legibly, to include current status and close out of actions in a timely manner.
- Review of project with process operator(s) prior to hand back to production
- Assists in the specification for production equipment and the selection, purchase and installation
- Continuously develops skill through external training, on job development and self-study of relevant technical material.
- Supports the continuous improvement of the business, both process and performance by applying data analysis, Lean and Kaizen techniques.
- Support the CAPA process where customer complaints are related to machine issues
- Coordinates with outside vendors when needed, understanding internal limitations and securing outside expertise.
- Integrate associated CI initiatives into the culture of the Plant.
- To assist with delivery of all business KPI’s and operational targets as needed in meeting company goals.
- Meet or exceed plant business plan and KPI’s.
- Acts as a safety leader and puts safety first in all responsibilities. Works in conjunction with the EHS Coordinator to assure a safe working environment.
- Demonstrate and foster Amcor Values and actively contributes to a high-performance culture.
- Complies with all company policies and procedures
Qualifications/Requirements
- A level 8 degree in project/mechanical electrical engineering or similar with 5 years manufacturing experience, or alternatively at least 5 years' experience within a project engineering role
- Advance computer knowledge (especially in MS Word and Excel).
- Proficient in AutoCAD/SolidWorks
- Good technical ability and aptitude / skills
- Familiar with lean six sigma
- Experience in Support of improvement & change processes
- Energetic, resilient and professional, with a proven ability to make effective decisions under pressure.
- Experience in thermoforming or plastic moulding industry is desirable.
- Preferably strong knowledge of medical packaging business, customers and suppliers
