About the role
The Group Procurement Director –Resins AP is responsible for leading the sourcing and category management of Resins across Asia Pacific. Acting as a regional category lead, this role translates global strategies into AP execution, leads the regional sourcing team of category managers, manages key supplier relationships, and drives value delivery aligned with Amcor’s procurement, sustainability, and innovation objectives.
Key Job Accountabilities
Leadership and People Management
- Lead, develop, motivate and assign people to appropriate tasks. Ensure career development and succession planning is in place for the procurement function
- Ensure the right people are in the right place with the appropriate support to contribute to operating plan in order to deliver financial results in line with agreed budget
- Build sustainable category specific capabilities within the region to execute on the category strategies
- Manages a team of direct reports and is responsible for employee selection, development, mentoring, and performance management. Responsible for overall talent management and employee engagement for direct reports.
- Coach and input to the MIP and performance management and assessment of the Category Team members
Strategy Development and Strategy Implementation
- Accountable for developing and implementing a cohesive, business-aligned long-term Category Strategy for Resins the region, aligned with the global strategy and business objectives.
- Accountable for the overall delivery of the category targets following the target setting process
- Accountable for ensuring delivery against the Procurement Balanced Scorecard measures for the category
- Accountable for consolidating supplier, market, category and internal business data and information to inform the Category Strategy
- Responsible for the communication of the final Category Strategy and Annual Category Plans to the relevant stakeholders the region
- Manage regional implementation of sourcing events (RFI/RFQ/eAuctions) and strategic projects
- Accountable for ensuring the resources, information and tools are in place for project execution throughout the category
- Responsible for defining and measuring relevant key performance indicators for key suppliers in the category, aligned to the Amcor Supplier Performance Management Framework
- Accountable for leading innovation with strategic category suppliers
- Accountable for ensuring robust contractual arrangements are in place for the category
- Accountable for monitoring compliance and adherence to Amcor Procurement policies and procedures
- Responsible for ensuring internal issues are addressed and resolved in a timely manner
- Provide input to Amcor’s acquisition strategies by completing the due diligence and integration activities relevant to the category
ESG
- Lead the monitoring and reporting of GHG emissions data from suppliers in alignment with the Resins PCR/GHG and Procurement excellence team.
- Foster partnerships with suppliers to secure and source raw materials with post-consumer recycled (PCR) content or from non-fossil sources (bio-based)
- Accountable for ensuring procurement strategies align with internal and customer targets for recycled content and carbon reductions
- Lead initiatives to enhance Amcor`s sustainability performance in the supply chain
Negotiation
- Own key regional supplier relationships for the assigned categories; lead supplier segmentation and performance management.
- Build strong relationships with key suppliers regional contacts in order to negotiate more innovative and beneficial contractual agreements and service levels
- Manage negotiation process, content and results. Lead the negotiation team to define the desired outcome of a negotiation
Relationship Management
- Identify stakeholders; understand and interpret their current and future needs, and manage their expectations. Give advice and build long-term value partnerships with these stakeholders
- Collaborate closely with relevant departments to ensure understanding and compliance with key procurement strategies and policies
- Serve as the key interface between Global Category Lead, regional procurement, R&D, and business stakeholders in the region.
- Facilitate regional resin qualifications, transitions, and recipe changes.
Financial Planning
- Accountable for the bottom-up aggregation of all category data across Business Groups to inform the top-down target setting process
- Optimize total cost of ownership (TCO) and actively contribute to budget planning and cost forecasting.
- Ensure robust contract coverage and track adherence to agreed terms.
- Responsible for reconciling “gaps” between the bottom-up and top-down targets, and identifying initiatives required to close any such disparities
- Ensure that financial resource allocation is cost-effective and aligned with strategic and operational plans
- Build an accurate forecast for category price movements
- Provide periodic and ad hoc reports and forecasts on performance against plan
Occupational Health, Safety and Environment
- Work in accordance with the responsibilities and authorities described in Appendix 2
Qualifications/Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred; in fields such as business administration, finance, law or a scientific or technical field. Strong preference for CIPS or similar professional qualification.
- 10+ years of Procurement experience or 8+ years in management, e.g. of a plant or similar functions.
- Significant leadership experience, solid experience in multi-country, multinational environments and matrix organisations.
- Extensive experience in commercial, change and category management, cross functional team management as well as senior level influencing.
