JOB TITLE: R&D Development Center Engineer
REPORTING TO: R&D Development Center Engineer.

Scope:
As an engineer in the R&D Development Center, you will focus on product improvement, ensuring
high-quality outcomes through your strong knowledge and skills in relevant product platforms. You will
participate in the validation and industrialization of projects, ensuring they meet all necessary standards and
requirements. Additionally, you will identify and address customer and competitive needs with an emphasis
on cost innovation, product superiority, and sustainability. Your role will also involve ensuring the proper
handover of projects to production sites and supporting the scale-up and continuous improvement
processes.


About the team:
The R&D Innovation & Sustainability team within the division of CPI is composed of experienced
professionals dedicated to advancing the company´s innovation and sustainability goals. With allocations
in multiple geographies having expertise across Healthcare, Homecare, Food, Beverage, Beauty and
Wellness; with focus on:

  1. Sustainability: Implement and scale sustainable business practices across operations and value
    chain, focusing on reducing environmental impact while maximizing circularity and enhancing value
    creation.
  2. Product Innovation: Creating new and improved packaging designs that meet the evolving needs of
    customers across various industries.
  3. Cost Innovation: Value creation by reducing the costs associated with producing or delivering a
    product or service, while maintaining or improving its quality and performance.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the R&D Development Center and contribute to the alignment with the company’s
    improvement and sustainability objectives.
  • Maintain relationships with clients for project management and execution trough the process of
    development.
  • Manage technical aspects of projects, including timelines, budgets, and resource allocation. Ensure
    projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Lead implementation of restaging products for existing portfolio of site of relevancy.
  • Develop and implement strategies to enhance the sustainability of products and processes, aligning with the company’s environmental goals.
  • Conduct all final qualifications necessary to confirm the feasibility for industrialization and prepare the required documentation for handover to the sites of production.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality, reduce costs, and improve manufacturing processes.
  • Partner with key stake holders on the definition of business continuity plans and security of supply initiatives.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality, reduce waste, and improve manufacturing efficiency
  • Identify and resolve technical issues that arise during the development and production phases. Use root cause analysis and other problem-solving techniques to address issues promptly.
  • Prepare comprehensive technical documentation, including design specifications, test plans, validation reports, and manufacturing instructions. Ensure all documentation is accurate and up to date.
  • Foster a collaborative environment, working closely with cross-functional teams across Healthcare, Homecare, Food, Beverage, Beauty, and Wellness sectors (when applicable).

 

Key performance indicators:

  • R&D Project Execution:
    • Quality rating of completed projects (based on predefined standards).
    • Reduction in carbon footprint and increase in sustainable materials usage.
    • Number of technical issues resolved, and time taken to resolve them
  • Industrialization Feasibility and Documentation:
    • Percentage of projects successfully handed over to production sites.
    • Improvement in product quality metrics and cost savings from process improvements.
    • Accuracy and completeness of technical documentation.
  • Continuous Improvement, BCP, SOS and Launch Follow-up:
    • Success rate of product launches at site or multisite level.
    • Number of business continuity plans implemented.
    • Number of securities of supply initiatives implemented.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Biotechnology).
  • Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in R&D.
  • Proven track record of leading successful R&D projects and managing high-performing teams.
  • Strong knowledge of industrial processes, technology and qualification principles.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and project management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Experience in the Healthcare, Homecare, Food, Beverage, Beauty, or Wellness sectors is highly desirable.
  • Technical knowledge on injection process and/or packaging
