Lead Technical Secondary Packaging Latam

Job Overview:
We are looking for a strategic and hands-on Lead Technical Secondary Packaging LATAM to drive the transformation of our secondary packaging portfolio across the region. This role will lead the design, optimization, and governance of packaging solutions that balance product protection, sustainability, and cost efficiency, while enhancing end-to-end supply chain performance. You will play a key role in simplifying and standardizing packaging across LATAM, driving smarter decisions through a Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) lens.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the design and optimization of secondary packaging solutions, considering manufacturing, palletization, transportation, warehousing, and handling impacts
- Translate customer and business needs into efficient, scalable packaging solutions supported by TCO analysis
- Drive standardization across LATAM, reducing complexity while ensuring compliance with local regulations
- Define and implement “right-spec” packaging guidelines, avoiding over-engineering
- Identify innovative materials and design alternatives to improve cost and sustainability performance
- Incorporate CO₂ and environmental impact assessments into decision-making and business cases
- Act as a key technical partner across Procurement, Logistics, Operations, Sales, and external suppliers

Skills & Competencies:
- Strong expertise in Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) and data-driven decision-making
- Deep technical knowledge of secondary packaging materials and design, ideally in B2B environments
- Strategic thinking combined with hands-on problem-solving capabilities
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to lead multiple initiatives simultaneously
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence without authority
- Collaborative mindset and ability to work across cultures and functions
- Familiarity with packaging design tools and analytical methodologies
- Solid understanding of sustainability practices and trends in packaging
- Knowledge of supply chain, logistics, and distribution dynamics

Qualifications:
- 8–12+ years of experience in secondary packaging engineering or related roles
- Proven track record in packaging design, testing, optimization, and regulatory compliance
- Experience evaluating trade-offs between packaging design and supply chain costs
- Background working in cross-functional and regional/global environments
- Experience managing supplier relationships and working with external stakeholders
- Familiarity with sustainability initiatives and material innovation in packaging
- Understanding of key raw materials (feedstocks) impacting packaging costs
Education & Certification:
- Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field
- Master’s degree is a plus
- Relevant certifications in packaging design or related fields may be required depending on regional regulations
