Job Purpose

 

  • Responsible and leading the project selection as well as the identification of CI potentials
  • Responsible for and conducting regular project reviews as well as internal and external project reporting
  • Responsible and perform the monthly calculation of waste and CI savings as well as internal and external reporting
  • Lead projects using the DMAIC process
  • Local implementation of Operations Transformation projects / programs using the Amcor Flexibles Production System (AFPS)
  • Support the Performance Board Meetings at plant level and departmental level
  • Analysing and evaluating productivity and waste across all levels
  • Responsible for creating and developing the performance management
  • Providing Lean and Six Sigma tools and knowledge
  • Create, deploy, and evolve templates, data evaluation tools and analysis tools across all levels

 

 

Job Dimensions & Scope

 

  • 1 direct report (new joiner)
  • Approx. 300 co-workers on site
  • Interfacing/exchanging with vast group: Plant SMT Team, Production, Quality, Process, Supply Chain, Finance, AFEMEA OPEX Organization
  • Role needs to connect across plant organisation as projects can be developed in manufacturing or in administration to streamline costs.
  • The CI Manager will work across EMEA CI organisation to learn from best practices at other Amcor sites

 

 

Principal Accountabilities

 

  • Undertake an in-depth familiarisation programme to include the company, its philosophies, products, plant and operating procedures, personalities, corporate plans, culture, management and communication style
  • Drive CI improvement Plans throughout Rorschach organisation - establishing clear goals, ensuring rigorous and consistent measurement, focus on critical blocks to move ahead the projects, adoption of standard operating methods, sharing of best practice
  • Ensure that CI is promoted both internally and externally and that standards are maintained through the entire organisation wherever project is developed
  • Lead the creation of a culture of “lean thinking” within the Rorschach business; encouraging ideas which promote improved efficiency and lower costs; providing a platform to improve engagement amongst co-workers and create a workforce receptive to change and flexibility
  • Ensure projects are established with robust plans and adequately resourced, well managed teams. Support the projects through introduction of appropriate tools and methodologies, sharing of best practices. Challenge assumptions and remove roadblocks to progress to ensure the best possible outcomes
  • Key role in the Budget process and managing cost center
  • Report & Manage KPI’s for Management review
  • Contribute to wider operations based projects as required by the PGM
  • Promote best demonstrated practice sharing within the site and group as a whole

 

Major Challenges & Complexities

 

  • Driving CI savings in accordance with the budget of the plant and projects behind
  • Ensuring standards and processes are in place which are critical for the project implemented
  • Building working relationships across organisation. Internally (plant) and externally (rest of Amcor organisation and external stakeholders)

 

Qualifications/Requirements

 

  • University degree or equivalent, with 3+ years of industrial experience in technical subjects i.e. Mechanical or Chemical Engineering
  • In depth knowledge of the theory behind CI, Quality and Operational Management
  • In depth and broad practical experience of leading CI and Operations teams in process related industries; preferably B2B
  • Lean and Six Sigma tools
  • Fluent in German and English
  • Good IT Skills
  • Operational leadership background
