Job Purpose 

The Buyer Aluminium AFEMEA plays an important role in helping the company reach its procurement goals by managing the sourcing and supply of aluminium materials efficiently. This role involves working closely with suppliers and internal teams to ensure the best quality, cost, and delivery, while supporting sustainability and continuous improvement initiatives.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Source and purchase key aluminium materials at regional and global levels, ensuring supply meets business requirements.
  • Monitor market trends, supplier performance, and pricing to make informed purchasing decisions and manage risks effectively.
  • Support the implementation of category strategies by collaborating with category managers and cross-functional teams.
  • Maintain regular communication with AMCOR sites in AFEMEA, assisting with planning, forecasting, and addressing any quality or service issues quickly to minimize impact.
  • Collect and manage data related to greenhouse gas emissions, contributing to the company’s overall GHG reduction goals.
  • Keep various procurement tracking tools up-to-date, such as savings reports and rebate tracking, to maintain transparency and support reporting needs.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders (like planning, logistics, quality, and finance) and external suppliers to ensure smooth daily operations and problem resolution.
  • Actively contribute to meeting and exceeding procurement targets by identifying cost-saving opportunities and process improvements.
  • Support data analysis and prepare reports to provide insights for decision-making and continuous improvement.
  • Participate in ongoing efforts to improve procurement processes, leveraging best practices and technology to increase efficiency and effectiveness.

 

Job Dimensions & Scope 

The Buyer Aluminium reports directly to the Category Procurement Manager, who reports to the Global Category Lead for Aluminium, Paper, and Board. This Buyer role covers the AFEMEA region, where AMCOR operates several sites; some of these sites purchase aluminium either internally from AMCOR production or from external suppliers.

Principal Accountabilities 

 

Procurement Aluminium:

  • Ensure continuity of supply, provide support to sites on daily business activities
  • Resolve disputes with suppliers
  • Validate and distribute price lists
  • Continuously support in exploring opportunities to reduce prices and costs
  • Preparation of negotiations and meetings: collect, analyse data and summarise conclusions
  • Manage data for RFQ/Tenders and other important procurement projects
  • Support CPM in achieving best outcome during negotiations
  • Category related step change opportunities related to changes in process / product / demand management
  • Support category strategy together with CPM
  • Support sites in claim management process

 

Manage Procurement Tools and provide data support

  • Internal: Manage purchasing tools (KMS / Melius = Claim handling tool, Artemis = Data warehouse, RebTT = Rebate tracker) and support CPM with managing GSTT = global saving tracking tool, PMT = Price movement tool, MMR monthly management report
  • Provide data collection & analysis support to Category Team

 

Qualifications/Requirements

 

Experience and Education

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Economics, Engineering, or a related technical field
  • Minimum of 3-4 years’ relevant experience in procurement

 

Functional/Technical Skills:

  • Strong analytical and commercial skills, with the ability to interpret data, identify trends, and make data-driven recommendations
  • Effective ability to make adaptive decisions in proactive way with strong solution ownership
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
  • Good understanding of reporting systems and database structures
  • Results-oriented with a strong focus on achieving goals
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • Solid project management capabilities
  • In-depth knowledge of procurement and finance processes
  • Understanding of risk management principles
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Capable to set priorities and understand and follow standardized processes
  • Ability to work in a changing environment

 

Language skills 

  • Fluent in English
  • Other European language (e.g. German, French) would be an asset
