Field Technical Service Engineer – Flexible Packaging

Location: France (North-West preferred, flexible)

About the Role

As a Field Technical Service Engineer, you will play a key role in supporting customers and partners across the EMEA region, primarily in France. Acting as the technical interface between Amcor, customers, and equipment manufacturers, you will help ensure optimal performance of flexible packaging solutions.

You will split your time between customer sites, production environments, and collaboration with internal teams. This role involves frequent travel (up to 70%) and offers a high level of autonomy.

This is a highly dynamic, customer-facing role combining technical problem-solving, product development support, and on-site troubleshooting across a wide range of flexible packaging segments (e.g. dairy, meat, pet food, ready meals, pharma).

 

Key Responsibilities

Customer & Technical Support

  • Provide on-site and remote technical support at customer and OEM sites across multiple packaging applications (e.g. VFFS, flow wrap, lidding, HFFS pouch, blister)
  • Diagnose and resolve material, machine, and product interaction issues
  • Deliver detailed service reports and share actionable insights internally

Trials & Product Development

  • Support packaging trials from initial testing to industrial scale-up
  • Collaborate with R&D and customers to validate new products and ensure machine compatibility
  • Gather and analyse key technical data to accelerate product development

Quality & Continuous Improvement

  • Drive troubleshooting efforts for quality-related issues, working cross-functionally with customers and internal teams
  • Support root cause analysis, claim resolution and minimize business impact

 

Business Growth & Customer Success

  • Contribute to new business opportunities by supporting technical trials and customer onboarding
  • Maintain strong relationships with customers, OEMs, and internal stakeholders
  • Provide technical expertise to support specification changes, plant transfers, and business continuity initiatives

Planning & Reporting

  • Manage your own schedule to meet customer and business priorities
  • Track progress on trials and growth opportunities

 

What You Bring

  • Engineering or scientific degree (or equivalent industry experience)
  • 1–2+ years of experience in flexible packaging or packaging machinery
  • Good understanding of converting processes and filling/packaging equipment
  • Knowledge of packaging validation procedures
  • Strong technical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills with a customer-focused mindset
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
  • High level of organization, rigor, and attention to detail
  • Fluent in French and English (additional European languages are a plus)
  • Willingness to travel up to 70% across the region
