Job Purpose

This is an exciting developmental opportunity for an ambitious individual looking to build a long-term career as a Technical Support Manager (TSM). As a Trainee Technical Support Manager, you will gain hands-on experience across technical and commercial areas of the business. You will support experienced Technical Support Managers and the Technical Office, building the core knowledge, skills, and confidence required to progress into a future TSM role.

 

Job Dimensions & Scope

  • Support Technical Support Managers with day-to-day workload, technical queries, and project activities

  • Provide key support to the Technical Office to develop strong foundational product and system knowledge

  • Work independently and collaboratively across teams to support business objectives

  • Assist in the Training Academy

  • Develop understanding of architectural and structural engineer drawings

  • Develop knowledge around BS8102:2022 and gain CSSW qualification

  • Develop knowledge around BS8485:2019+A1:2019 and attend PCA course for ground gas protection

  • Develop knowledge around BR211:2023 and attend the Radon Council Course

  • Develop a full understanding of DPC guidance and attend any relevant courses

  • Develop a full understanding of NHBC guidance in relation to our areas of expertise

  • Develop a full understanding of building regulations in relation to our areas of expertise

Major Challenges & Complexities

  • Learning and applying complex technical standards and regulatory requirements

  • Developing the ability to interpret and translate technical drawings into practical solutions

  • Balancing multiple learning priorities while supporting live business activities

  • Building confidence in customer-facing situations and technical discussions

  • Adapting quickly to a varied role spanning technical, commercial, and operational areas

  • Managing workload effectively while developing new skills at pace

 

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Previous experience in construction or a related industry is desirable

  • A strong interest in developing a technical and commercial career

  • Willingness to undertake professional qualifications and external training

  • Basic understanding of construction drawings or a willingness to learn

  • Commercial awareness or interest in developing business understanding

  • Full UK driving licence

  • Based London/South East
