JOB DESCRIPTION
Job title: Mechanical Team Lead Reports to: Engineering Manager
BG/BU/Corp : Maintenance Location: AF Cumbria
A. Overview of role purpose:
Purpose
To drive improvement in machine availability, (uptime), and machine performance, (OEE), for the assets across span of control by managing the Team through the planning and scheduling of the work and training required. Accountable for all Line Management duties for the Team members.

Outline of duties
• Managing the Team members to deliver the maintenance activities in line with the Business Priorities.
• Providing Line Management responsibilities for the Team members including training and development.
• Executing the Team Lead role within the Planning and Scheduling Process.
• Identification and monitoring of critical spares across the business utilising stock control systems including input, management and improvement activities.
• Provide Technical Support to the Maintenance Team on preventive and corrective maintenance as required.

Quality • Implementing Maintenance initiatives that will drive Quality improvements;
• Supporting Quality improvement programmes.
Waste • Identifying and implementing Maintenance solutions that will minimise Waste production;
• Working closely with Operational teams to support Waste improvement programmes.
Engineering Responsibilities • Managing the Team members to deliver the maintenance activities in line with the business priorities, whilst ensuring correct resources allocated to emergency work. This includes staff and 3rd Party Contractors.
• Providing Line Management responsibilities for the Team members including training and development.
• Prioritising new and existing preventive and corrective work orders.
• Complying with the planning and scheduling processes to ensure work is executed in line with those priorities.
• Identification and monitoring of critical spares across the business utilising stock control systems including input, management and improvement activities.
• Provide Technical Support to the Maintenance Team on preventive and corrective maintenance as required.
• Accountable for the completion of maintenance work orders, documents and records and providing feedback and future learnings for improvements
• Working in a positive manner and is open to a new tasks and challenges
• Chair and actively participate in meetings as required to execute their role.
• Ensure safe and hygienic working practices are adopted by the Maintenance Team and contractors, including correct use of work permits and isolations.
• Provide input for the development and implementation of preventive maintenance strategies, plans and standardised procedures
• Assist in the delivery of project scopes which include but not limited to:
o improvement activities,
o machine upgrades,
o process improvements,
o capital investments,
o continuous Improvement and quality programs,
o installation and commissioning
• Support the development and roll out of TPM programs as required by the business.
People Management • To lead and support those within the direct team.
• To proactively seek out and arrange training requirements.
Operational Excellence/
Continuous Improvements • Actively seeking best practice solutions, both from within Amcor and externally;
• Determination to deliver best in class.
• Promoting Operational Excellence and Continuous Improvements within Maintenance across the site.

• Support the sites engineering budget delivery through delivery of effective maintenance

E. Qualifications / requirements:

Education and Certifications • HNC in Mechanical engineering discipline or equivalent
• Relevant equipment specific courses
• Some form of OHSE qualification (IOSH Managing Safely)
• Leadership/supervision qualification (ILM Lever 3)
• CI qualification • Ideally
• Some form of OHSE qualification (desirable).
Job Specific Technical Requirements • Engineering knowledge of printing presses and blown film extrusion lines;(desirable but not essential)
• Understanding of Continuous Improvement / Operational Excellence tools and techniques.
