Job Title: HR Apprentice    Reports to: HR Manager
BG/BU: Snacks & Confectionary    Date: May 2025

1. Job Overview

•    Provide HR support to the HR Team and across all departments at AF Cumbria.
•    To provide HR support in relation to recruitment and selection, induction, employee relations, sickness absence management and communications.
•    Provide cover (holiday and sickness) for the monthly payroll at AF Cumbria. 
•    Supporting the HR Manager in various projects as and when required and coordinating events on site.

2. Job Dimensions
Reporting to the HR Manager, this role exists to ensure AF Cumbria meets their obligations in respect of:
•    Providing a HR advisory service to Line Managers to ensure they are compliant with local labour law and Amcor policy in relation to HR issues.
•    Maintaining HR records in an efficient and accessible way, which will meet Amcor/ Customer/ and legislation requirements in any audit process;
•    Maintaining an efficient service in order to meet the site HR / administrative needs of both internal and external customers across all departments.  

3. Principal Accountabilities

•    Providing HR support to Line Managers in relation to recruitment and selection, induction, employee relations, sickness absence management and communication.
•    Keeping the absence database up to date and arranging Occupational Health Appointments for employees.
•    Undertake the payroll to provide cover for AF Cumbria 
•    Supporting HR Manager in regularly updating internal communication i.e. newsletters, notice boards, The Pod and other announcements.
•    Ensuring HR records and systems are kept up to date.
•    Supporting the implementation of the annual Amcor Global Survey across the site;
•    Support reception & site administration as required
•    Manage conference room facilities


4. Skills and Abilities:
•    Excellent IT skills including Word, PowerPoint and Excel;
•    The ability to recognise priorities and organise their workload accordingly;
•    A keen eye for accuracy and attention to detail;
•    Excellent team player with willingness to support all HR team members when required;
•    Flexibility in respect of taking on other duties to support team members, and willingness to work varied hours if required;
•    Excellent communication skills throughout all levels of the business;
•    Possess tact, diplomacy and a high level of confidentiality.

6. Qualifications/Requirements
6.1 Formal Qualifications and Experience
•    Minimum 5 GCSE’s including Maths and English
•    Will undertake an apprenticeship in payroll and HR
