Job Purpose: The Cramlington site is a part of the Amcor Flexibles Healthcare Business Unit. The site supports the wider Amcor network in the printing and slitting of flexible packaging products mainly to a blue chip Pharmaceutical industry customer base.The Operations Manager within the Cramlington site is responsible for the Management of all Production, Engineering / Maintenance / Despatch and Continuous Improvement activities.
The main priorities will be as follows:
- Safety & Environment
- Compliance to company & Plant policies and procedures
- Alignment with Plant objectives and customer requirements
- High focus on continuous Improvement & Manufacturing efficiency
- Support PGM as an active member of the Site Senior Management team (SMT)Management of CAPEX & Cost Out projects

Printing & Slitting of flexible packaging for Healthcare market (Transform raw mats to finished goods)
Staff:40 employees (3 Direct Reports)

Principal Accountabilities:
- Ensure safety is prioritised in everything you do and make sure all the Health, Safety and Environment (OHSE) site rules are adhered to at all times 
- Lead & manage all aspects of operational activity on the Cramlington site
- The principal areas being production & maintenance
- Set & influence your team to achieve all operational targets and operational excellence programmes and deliver measurable continuous improvement
- Ensure excellent levels of customer service and product quality
- Be a key member of the site SMT
- Defining and assigning goals and improvement projects to the line managers focused on competitiveness, efficiency and business continuity
- Defining and managing organisational processes and improvements (roles, responsibilities, number of headcounts, shifts, activities), according to company policies and budget
- Defining  and verifying the correct KPIs to control processes performance
- Leading innovation and changes
- Heightening own team performances, knowledge and leadership
- Maintaining high level of collaborators’ motivation and engagement
- Promoting Amcor Values within the plant
- Supporting PGM and HR in industrial relations and disciplinary issues
- Requesting and supporting CI improvement projects
- Creating value through best practices sharing with other plants and introduction of new technologies
- Delivers budget in terms of production volumes, costs, Capex
- Ensures timely execution of the production plan by optimising capacity to meet demand
- Responsible for a smooth warehousing operation to support the production planning and service levels
- Supports the optimisation of working capital through the reduction of inventory
- Delivers continuous improvement plans for all aspects of the site operations
- Supervises Maintenance, responsible to develop and manage preventive and reactive maintenance for machineries, assets and facilities following legal requirements and supplier instructions.
- Develops exceptional practices to maximise quality, output and minimise waste/downtime and manufacturing cost.
- Support apprenticeship programs and training

Directs reports of the Operations Manager are:
The Maintenance Manager; is responsible to:
- Develop and manage preventive and reactive maintenance for machines, assets and facilities following legal requirements and supplier instructions.
-He/she coordinates electrician and mechanical supervisor and technicians, organizing jobs respecting safety and production priorities.
The Production Shift Managers; are responsible for:
- OHSE performance and improvement plans
- Compliance with company/plant policies & procedures
- Management of production and department  targets
- Alignment with plant objectives and customer requirements
- Growth of team performances and knowledge
- Management of changes in production environment
- Focus on continuous improvement and innovation
- Management of volume, productivity increases, scrap reduction, internal and external quality claims
- Value creation through best practices shared with other plants and introduction of new technologies
- Maintain levels of housekeeping and hygiene as expected by customers and defined by the company
- Take part in 6S activities as required and ensure your working area is always clean and safe

Qualifications/Requirements Formal Qualifications and Experience
- 10 years + Proven Operations Management experience, gained in a fast paced, manufacturing environment
- Experience in (flexible) packaging is an advantage but not a pre-requisite for the role
- Experience of successfully managing significant change / transformation projects within a manufacturing environment.
- First-hand experience of Lean and continuous improvement methodologies, Six Sigma, Kaizen etc.
- Degree associated subject preferred but not essentialKnowledge of production machines, tools and related process control equipment, energy management, GMPs and shop floor systems, safety and environmental regulation, use of statistic calculation tools, basics of finance.
