Job Purpose

 

Chalon site belongs to our Wine & Spirits (W&S) Business Unit. The W&S Business Unit of Amcor Flexibles EMEA utilises sophisticated coating, printing and forming technologies across several sites in Europe and Americas, supplying a range of closures and overcaps to prestigious actors of the Wine & Spirits global market.

 

The Production Manager within our Chalon site is responsible for managing Production and Operations Excellence areas and the main priorities will be as follows:

 

  • Safety
  • Compliance with company/plant policies and procedures
  • Alignment with customer satisfaction objectives, plant performance and cost control targets
  • Focus on continuous improvement
  • Within Plant Leadership Team, support PGM in the plant management, with a drive for excellence approach.

 

 

Job Dimensions & Scope

 

  • Turnover for the Plant: €45Mil
  • Process: transformation of raw materials in end products
  • Member of the Site Management Team
  • Staff: 120 people (8 direct reports, shift leaders and CI Engineer)
  • Scope & Geographical spread: Chalon-sur-Saône Plant, France.
  • Plant operating 24/7

 

 

Principal Accountabilities

 

  • Supporting the organisation for the management of the safety performance of the plant
  • Taking an active role in the plant’s safety programs and goals, and spreading safety culture
  • Delivering budget in terms of production volumes, cost-to-produce and cost-out.
  • Defining and assigning goals and improvement projects to the line managers focused on competitiveness, efficiency and business continuity
  • Defining and managing organisational processes and improvements (roles, responsibilities, number of headcounts, shifts, activities), according to company policies and budget
  • Promoting Amcor Culture (Values and Behaviour) within the plant
  • Maintaining high level of motivation and engagement within his organisation.
  • Heightening own team performances, knowledge and leadership
  • Leading and supporting CI improvement projects
  • Defining, reporting and analysing the correct KPIs to control processes performance
  • Supporting PGM and Plant Leadership Team in the plant management
  • Supporting PGM and HR in industrial relations and disciplinary issues
  • Creating value through best practices sharing with other plants and introduction of new technologies

 

Directs reports of Production Manager are:

  • Production Shift Leaders (7), who are responsible for:
    • Leading the people on the floor
    • Managing daily operations, quality and safety,
    • Ensuring the shift runs smoothly
    • Solving problems in real time
    • Implementing improvement initiatives

 

  • CI Engineer, who is responsible for:
    • Improving the performance of the production (Cost, Quality, Delay) towards the ideal stage
    • Leading Daily Performance Meetings,
    • Introducing appropriate tools, methodologies and best practices

 

 

 

Qualifications/Requirements

 

  1. Formal Qualifications and Experience
  • A minimum of 10 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment and supervision
  • Experience in packaging is an advantage but not a pre-requisite for the role
  • Experience of successfully managing significant change / transformation projects within a manufacturing environment.
  • First-hand experience of Lean and continuous improvement methodologies e.g. Six Sigma, Kaizen etc.
  • Degree in a science, technology or engineering subject preferred, advanced degree advantageous.
  • Knowledge of production machines, tools and related process control equipment, energy management, SAP and shop floor systems, safety and environmental regulation (France, EU), use of statistic calculation tools, basics of finance, Integrated Quality Assurance Systems (EHS, quality);
