The Supply Planner is accountable for supply planning within their assigned Business Unit(s) and is a core member of the AFEMEA CoE Supply Planning team.

This role is an individual-contributor / functional manager role with significant cross-functional leadership, coaching, and influence responsibilities; direct line-management accountability, if any, will be defined by local organization design.

The role has three dimensions:

• Plan — Owns the Business Unit supply planning cycle: prepares the supply plan — spanning Rough-Cut Capacity Planning, master-scheduling alignment with sites, and supply-demand balancing across the network — reviews constraints, evaluates risks and opportunities, builds scenarios with clear service, cost and inventory trade-offs, and prepares and facilitates the Supply Review as the supply input to the BU S&OP.
• Standardize — Drives adoption of AFEMEA Planning Playbook standards across the sites in scope — beginning with the foundational Minimum Viable Planning Playbook and continuing through the higher-maturity playbooks that will follow — coaching site planning teams on the planning basics (planning time fences, one plan/one owner, weekly planning rhythm, exception-based planning, schedule adherence) and feeding site-level learning back into the development of future Playbook waves.
• Steward — Owns the quality and completeness of planning master data for their scope across source systems (capacity models, calendars, lead times, lot sizes, planning parameters), defines and communicates central data requirements, and partners with BI, data and IT roles to close gaps — building reliable planning visibility even where current systems do not yet provide it.

Principal Accountabilities

Supply planning & S&OP (Plan)

• Drives the supply planning process for their Business Unit(s), providing the best possible answer to customer demand across the AFEMEA network from a volume, site-allocation and timing perspective
• Prepares the Business Unit supply plan; reviews supply constraints; evaluates risks and opportunities; recommends re-allocation strategies where suitable
• Accountable for dependent demand propagation to the last node of the supply chain network, liaising with other Business Unit Supply Planners as required
• Identifies the best mitigation strategies (allocations, sourcing set-up, safety stock levers) through the creation of scenarios, with explicit evaluation of service, cost, inventory and financial (EBIT / working capital) impacts
• Acts as the central planning interface with site planners for Rough-Cut Capacity Planning, ensuring the overall output is properly balanced and escalating where no scenario resolves the constraint
• Prepares and facilitates the Supply Review to align Business Unit operations stakeholders on a cost-optimal plan for production, distribution and procurement; provides supply inputs to the BU S&OP, ensuring issues, risks and opportunities for each decision are properly addressed
• Contributes to cross-BU supply reviews where identified opportunities affect other Business Units (demand re-allocation, sourcing ratio review, significant dependent-demand changes)
• Partners with sites to ensure production and procurement plans are anchored on the consensus demand plan; reviews and escalates structural deviations
• Operates according to the Planning Playbook's exception-based planning model: prioritizes service risk, capacity risk, frozen-zone breach requests and inventory risk, following the defined planner steps and escalation paths

Standards adoption & site capability (Standardize)

• Drives adoption of the AFEMEA Planning Playbook basics across the sites in scope, in partnership with BU Supply Chain Managers and site teams
• Coaches site planners against the planning standards and the AFEMEA planner capability framework; supports sites in closing gaps identified in capability assessments
• Builds alignment and buy-in without direct authority — through credibility, coaching and partnership — and escalates constructively where adoption is blocked
• Feeds site-level learning and constraints back into the CoE to shape future waves of planning standards
• Acts as a steward of change management and execution as planning standards evolve from foundational (Minimum Viable Planning Playbook) toward advanced practice through successive playbook waves
• Contributes to defining and refining central-versus-site planning accountabilities as the CoE operating model matures

Data & visibility (Steward)

• Accountable for the accuracy and completeness of planning master data in scope (capacity models, calendars, lead times, lot sizes, planning parameters), independent of the source system
• Defines central data requirements for supply planning; escalates and tracks closure of data gaps with sites, BI and IT partners
• Develops and maintains supply planning visibility (capacity, load and inventory views) across heterogeneous systems using standard CoE tools, reducing reliance on unmanaged offline files over time, and progressively incorporating AI, optimization and advanced modeling techniques as these capabilities mature
• Ensures supply planning KPIs and reviews are based on actual, trusted data

CoE citizenship

• Works as one planning community with the Demand Planning CoE: shared cadences, shared data foundations, and internal alignment on issues before external communication
• Documents standard work; contributes to training and onboarding of planners; applies CI methodology in daily activities
• Strong contributor to planning system implementation and improvement (e.g., SAP IBP and successor tools)
• Helps drive business continuity planning by proactively identifying risks well in advance and proposing alternative site options

Measures of Success

• Service: DIFOT performance and recovery actions for the Business Unit(s) and sites in scope
• Inventory: DIO (RM / WIP / FG) and ageing / obsolescence trends against targets
• Stability: schedule adherence and frozen-zone breach rate at sites in scope
• Plan quality: plan adherence, scenario quality, and planning data accuracy
• Adoption: Planning Playbook implementation progress and capability-assessment progression at supported sites; consensus plan adoption at sites

Qualifications / Requirements

Formal qualifications and experience

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, Logistics or a related field
• 5–8+ years of supply chain experience, preferably in an international B2B or FMCG matrix environment
• Previous experience in a supply planning role within a large organization
• Experience working directly with manufacturing sites (site planning, scheduling, or plant supply chain) strongly preferred, given the site-facing coaching nature of the role
• Experience partnering and presenting to Director and VP level
