Position Overview:

  • Responsible for troubleshooting and repairing all general machinery (Sidel, Bekum, Husky, Nissei, etc.), conveyor systems, plant support equipment, case packers, box makers, stretch wrappers, palletizers and other necessary equipment to ensure efficient and effective operation of machinery for a high quality finished product. 

 

Essential Responsibilities and Duties: 

  • Respect Amcor Rigid Packaging's primary focus that is to ensure the Safety of all employees.
  • Follow all established safety rules and guidelines.  This includes, but is not limited to, lockout/tagout, electrical code safe practices and confined space entry programs. 
  • Understand and communicate all hazards and safety issues to the appropriate personnel.  Properly use all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Ensure proper and safe operational conditions of all production and related equipment.
  • Recommend, plan, repair, modify, make, install and adjust all the necessary elements following a problem or a project which may have an effect on the productivity.
  • Analyze and resolve all issues related to the equipment; ensure cleanliness of all equipment and related areas after repairs or PM Sessions.
  • Uses schematic diagrams to troubleshoot and repair electric, hydraulic and pneumatic circuits.
  • Complete preventive maintenance on all production equipment in a timely manner according to schedule.
  • Determine needed parts and/or equipment necessary to complete repairs and preventive maintenance and complete appropriate order requests.  Work with Parts Room Coordinators to make sure correct parts are ordered.
  • Learn and gain expertise on new equipment and processes. 
  • Instruct co-workers (maintenance staff and production operators) on proper and safe operation of equipment as needed.
  • Organize and maintain maintenance areas and stockroom.
  • Utilize Levels training program to increase technical skill, knowledge and cross training with all machines that you are supporting.
  • Assist other maintenance employees with repairs, PM, installation, commissioning and testing of equipment.
  • Keep all tools in good and safe condition and ensure tools are returned to their appropriate location.
  • Perform GMP assignments as required
  • Assist contractors in machine and building repairs;
  • Has the authority to call in other maintenance employees after consulting with Shift Supervisor or their delegate.
  • Demonstrate a positive attitude and flexibility toward overtime.
  • Demonstrate leadership and high personal standards in relation to job performance.
  • May perform other related assignments as needed.

 

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

  • Education:  High School Diploma or GED
  • Certified Compressor Operator (completed at hire or within 12 months of hire)
  • Successful completion of Apprenticeship program in millwright, electromechanical, electrician or machinist or applicable experience
  • Prior maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred

  • Must be able to demonstrate proficiency by performance and/or certificates in at least four of the following skill sets:

Blow Molding

Air Compressor

Micrometers

Pneumatics

Refrigeration

Injection Moulding

Building Maint.

PLC

Extrusion Blow Moulding

 

  • Expected to take courses as required to perform regularly assigned duties
  • Must be familiar with hand tools and maintenance practices. 
  • Understanding of schematic diagrams required. 

 

Other Qualifications

  • Must own or be able to provide tools as per Amcor’s required tool list. 
  • Able to organize own work within the schedules in the most effective and economical way. 
  • Must be capable of working effectively in a fast-paced, high-quality manufacturing environment. 
  • Must have the ability to interpret and carry out both simple and complex instructions. 
  • English fluency required.  Good written and verbal communications skills are required. 
  • Incumbent must possess effective teamwork and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be able to work a 12-hour production shift schedule (including statutory holidays, weekends and
    night shifts).  Incumbent should be willing to demonstrate schedule flexibility for coverage for vacations and other absences.

  • Required to stand/walk for up to 11 hours per shift on concrete floor.
