Overview of Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Product Development Manager to join our team This role is part of the ANZ R&D Customer Facing Team. The role of the PDM New Zealand is to manage the Product Development Team and the R&D projects portfolio of this team in order to present Amcor as a responsive and an innovative packaging solution provider.
The role requires close links with sales, customers, marketing and our plants in order to generate and deliver sales and profitable growth through new product development and roll out of existing concepts and value optimisation. The role will ensure that the R&D team have robust product design and validation controls for new product implementation and commercialisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the process of development of new and innovative products or the value engineering of existing products.
- Develop and manage a team of Product Development Managers and Engineers.
- Establish and lead excellence in Product Design and Validation.
- Deliver the BU growth, value engineering, maintenance and raw material cost out budgeted targets.
- Ensure Amcor Flexibles is the preferred supplier of responsible, safe and innovative flexible packaging solutions to our customers.
- Support other regional R&D initiatives.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Experience - 5 years in a technical innovation role within the flexible packaging industry.
- Knowledge - Strong understanding of new product development in packaging. Excellent technical knowledge in packaging materials, converting processes as well as packaging machinery
- Skills - Strategic mindset, resilience, analytical judgement, negotiation, and commercial acumen. Proven leadership role and Management experience
- Education – Degree or higher in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering, Polymer Science, Chemistry or Material Science from an accredited university. Post graduate qualification is advantageous
- Other – Experience in project portfolio management and stage gate process management. An understanding of Design for Six Sigma methodology and experience in DOE experimentation and/or Black Belt skill sets are beneficial
- Working Rights – New Zealand working rights are required for this position.
