Job Purpose
- Ensure you and your teams conduct themselves safely at all times and comply with all occupational health & safety, environment, quality & food safety site rules.
- A key member of the sites Senior Management Team supporting the development and achievement of the business strategy.
- To develop and to manage preventive and reactive maintenance for machineries, assets and facilities following legal requirements and supplier instructions.
- He/she coordinate electrician and mechanical operators (up to 10 direct reports), organizing jobs respecting safety and production priorities
- Ensure you and your teams adhere to Company policies at all time.
- Lead & manage all aspects of operational activity on the AFNB site. The principal areas being, production, CI, pre-press and engineering.
- Set & influence your team to achieve all operational targets and operational excellence programmes and deliver measurable continuous improvement whilst looking to reduce costs wherever possible.
- Within the scope of his/her authority and competence, he/she is responsible for compliance with all defined quality requirement principles.

Principal Accountabilities
- Acts as a safety leader and puts safety first in all responsibilities. Works in conjunction with the EHS Manager to establish and maintain all policies and programs to assure a safe working environment.
- Acts and performs as an interface between maintenance, manufacturing, contractors, and engineering.
- Establish and monitor staff performance and development to include goal setting, identifying improvement targets for KPI’s and performance management.
- Responsible for educating contractors on company policy and procedures.
- Senior Management Team (SMT) Member
- Contribute to the setting and delivery of the overall Business Strategy
- Provide clear and accurate communications within the Operations & Management Teams on operational performance & continuous improvement activities
- Maintenance
- Monitors spare parts and supply minimum and maximums to ensure a just-in-time inventory is maintained and obsolete parts are recommended for obsolescence in a timely manner.
- Ensures equipment is maintained and in good working condition by scheduling timely and routine preventative maintenance to improve equipment reliability.
- Facility maintenance management;
- Develops and outlines a program of continuous improvement for the maintenance department including the PM program.
- Ensure the security, fire, and emergency systems are fully operational, routinely tested, and inspected.
- Responsible for tracking and monitoring facility utilities and implementing energy saving initiatives.
- Scheduling of internal maintenance work orders and coordination with outside vendors. Understanding internal limitations and securing outside expertise.
- Promotes a strong safety culture and demonstrates adherence to all Environmental, Health and Safety policies and procedures.
- Facilitate and enforces all company policies and procedures.
- Meet or exceed plant business plan and KPI’s.
- Familiar with 24/7 operations and on call shifts
- Engineering
- Prepares plant capital budget and initiates capital projects to include engineering requests, engineering estimates, account numbers, authorization for capital expenditures and capital project requests
- Works with internal and external resources to provide solutions and improvements to machines, equipment, and facility to meet plant goals, reduce costs, ensure safety compliance and improve overall equipment effectiveness.
- Develops specifications for production equipment; assists in the selection, purchase, and installation of the equipment in the plant.
- Follows capital projects from the initial idea through implementation into the plant.
- Maintains capital project cost tracking and reports quarterly expenditures.
- Develops and follows project schedules for implementing equipment into the plant.
- Leads the PM Pillar and launches teams to improve equipment reliability
- Team Development
- Develop all team members through effective performance review and appraisal.
- Set individual/group improvement targets that deliver or support the business improvement strategies.
- Uphold discipline and build development, succession plans and training programs for the Operations team.
Qualifications/Requirements
- Formal Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree on Engineering/Technical Degree and 5 years’ experience in a managerial position or High school Diploma and minimum 7 years’ experience in a managerial position.
- Strong working knowledge related to equipment engineering and automated manufacturing processes
- Experience in Automation Engineering, Electronic, Controls Engineering
- CMMS Implementation experience
- Engineering skills:

- Effective technical skills in mechanical engineering, basic electrical engineering, automation technology, process engineering, industrial engineering, utilities engineering
- Knowledge of modern production processes, preferred printing and lamination equipment
- Experienced in managing teams and/or team members
- Strong knowledge based on safety features and safety regulations
