Position Job Title: Finance & IT Manager

BG and BU: AFEMEA – Coffee, Petcare and Specialties

Location: On-site, Burgdorf (Switzerland)

Line Manager’s Job Title: Plant General Manager

Contract Length: Permanent

 

Job Purpose

The role exits to manage all aspects of financial controlling, reporting and analysis for the site P&L & Balance Sheet. This requires a full understanding of all aspects of the business and the issues affecting it, and an active participation as member of the site management team. Timely and accurate reporting, analysis and forecasting must be provided for local and Business Unit management.

 

Principal Accountabilities

Manages plant controlling, accounting department (3 staff)

Plant staff: 150

Turnover: 60 M€

 

Accounting & Reporting

  • Responsible for monthly reporting, based on full set of accounts provided by Accounting Department. Ensure financial statements are complete accurate, and reliable
  • Monthly financial closing according to US GAAP standards and yearly closing of the statutory accounts according to “Obligationenrecht” (OR)
  • Collaborate and set proper local process & procedures to ensure the required information is on time available and right first time
  • Coordinate month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes in collaboration with Shared Service Center
  • Lead the Budget review: preparation, consolidation, check, presentation
  • Monthly Hedge Accounting reporting (Balance Sheet and P&L forecast)

 

 

Governance, internal controls & compliance

  • Promote and enforce proper governance & internal controls across the plant, within an end-to-end process approach
  • Ensure Financial accounts are compliant to Amcor’s CSA (internal control) & SOX requirements
  • Main interlocutor for contact with external and internal auditors, tax authorities, consultants and insurance

 

Management information and analysis

  • Develop & implement process & procedures to ensure effective tracking and management of plant performance as well as risk identification
  • Ensure alignment & consistency of forecasts with the business goals and direction
  • As part of the Leadership Team for the plant, consult and provide input on general business direction to achieve Sales, EBIT, Cash, Working Capital, DIFOT, DIO targets, etc.
  • Co-lead the realization of the CAPEX projects for the plant in liaise with the other departments (technical, business, maintenance, engineering…)
  • Provide ad hoc information to support Plant and Operations management efforts to identify and realize improvement opportunities

 

Business partnership

  • Provide financial support to the commercial team on pricing, contract review and margin improvement
  • Analysis of quarterly PMDB (customer margin database) to ensure trends are understood and actions can be put in place to mitigate any negative margin trends
  • Lead plant efforts to maximize cash and return on capital and help prepare the operational strategy
  • Provide financial leadership and modeling for the preparation of the strategic plan
  • Forecast Business activities and financial position in areas of P&L & Cash
  • Involved in Capital Expenditure projects business cases preparation; Request and follow-up capital expenditure
  • Collaborate with Credit & Collection team to ensure an efficient customer risk management
  • Work closely with the Site HR Manager taking joint responsibility for the local payroll(s) and ensure that adequate controls are exercised in this area
  • Member of the “Vorsorgekommission” (employer representative of Amcor Flexibles Burgdorf) and of the investment committee of the pension fund Amcor CH

 

Qualifications/Requirements

 

Formal Qualifications and Experience

  • Holder of a professional accounting qualification (CIMA, ACCA, ACA).
  • Swiss Finance Legislation Knowledge
  • Swiss Accounting Principles

Specific Skills and Abilities

  • Experience of working in a SAP environment
  • Experience working in a manufacturing industry would be an asset
  • Experience gained within a fast paced, international matrix organization
  • Demonstrable business & commercial acumen
  • Strong analytical and IT skills. A good working knowledge of spreadsheet packages is essential.
  • Good people management skills (motivation, development)
  • Result oriented and action-minded

 

Language skills

 

  1. Good communication skills in English (written and oral)
  2. Advanced level of German is required
